A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Larsen & Toubro and the Norwegian company H2Carrier to explore projects including floating green hydrogen and green ammonia.

Marten Lunde, CEO of H2C, said: “Our P2XFloaterTM design offers a remedy for a number of issues with renewable energy projects, including costs, time, land usage and environmental impact, protracted planning and regulatory procedures, etc. We have made a big advancement in developing the best supply chain for delivering P2XFloatersTM on a wide scale to projects anywhere in the world by partnering with L&T.”

Power-to-X (PtX) projects based on affordable, frequently stranded, non-commercial renewable energy are a specialty of H2C.

The Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, and Commissioning (EPCIC) of the topsides for H2C’s floating process plants will be handled by L&T as a partner under the conditions of the Memorandum of Understanding.

L&T will design and construct the topside process and utility modules to manufacture green hydrogen and green ammonia, including electrolyzers, a nitrogen-generating plant, and an ammonia synthesis unit. H2C aims to have yards in Asia build the P2XFloater hull.

According to site preferences, the topsides modules’ installation on the hull and integration can be tailored, meaning it can be done in India or somewhere else, according to L&T.
