A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Larsen & Toubro and the Norwegian company H2Carrier to explore projects including floating green hydrogen and green ammonia. “We are delighted to collaborate with H2C on their distinctive and novel P2XFloaterTM design and we strongly believe that L&T, with its globally recognized expertise in Ammonia and Hydrogen production as well as vast experience in design & fabrication of complex process modules, is poised to be the ideal partner for H2C in this venture,” said Subramanian Sarma, full-time director and senior executive vice president (Energy) at L&T. Power-to-X (PtX) projects based on affordable, frequently stranded, non-commercial renewable energy are a specialty of H2C. The Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, and Commissioning (EPCIC) of the topsides for H2C’s floating process plants will be handled by L&T as a partner under the conditions of the Memorandum of Understanding. L&T will design and construct the topside process and utility modules to manufacture green hydrogen and green ammonia, including electrolyzers, a nitrogen-generating plant, and an ammonia synthesis unit. H2C aims to have yards in Asia build the P2XFloater hull. According to site preferences, the topsides modules’ installation on the hull and integration can be tailored, meaning it can be done in India or somewhere else, according to L&T.
